Volunteer Opportunities:

The Volunteer Program at the Women’s Support Network is the core of the agency. This program recruits women from York Region to give them the opportunity to give back to their community.

Various positions exist from:
  •   Staffing the 24-hour crisis line (from one’s home)
  •   Board member positions
  •   Event Planning/Fundraising
  •   Public Education/Awareness Committee
  •   Outreach
  •   Administrative Duties

The Women's Support Network is currently looking for women to volunteer on the crisis line. Women work from a pager system out of their homes. Women are working together to provide support to women who may have experienced a sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, sexual harassment, date rape etc.

The Volunteer Program provides women an excellent training program and ongoing professional development and support.
Some of the training modules are:

  •  Feminism and Socialization
  •  Sexual Abuse and Assault Issues
  •  Anti-Oppression
  •  Crisis Intervention
  •  Ritual Abuse
  •  Suicide
  •  Legal System
  •  Self Care
